Thanksgiving week is here once again, and along with that comes the annual Black Friday shopping frenzy!

In past years, it seemed that stores were competing to see who could open the earliest, and draw in the biggest crowd.

That started to slowly change a few years ago, and then last year's concerns about the virus seemed to put an end to retailers encouraging long lines and crowded stores.

Even with covid concerns easing slightly this year, it appears that many retailers are deciding to stay closed on Thanksgiving again. I think the combination of record-breaking online sales, and showing some concern for their employees has made them see the light.

In fact, Target announced many months ago that their decision to remain closed on Thanksgiving will be permanent. It will be interesting to see how many other large retailers follow their lead.

Whatever their reasons may be, I think it's a good thing that so many retail employees will have the ability to spend the holiday at home with their families.

Many of the larger grocery store chains will remain open on Thanksgiving for that one item you forgot. But be sure to check with your local stores for their hours.

Almost all of the retail stores have websites where you can shop till you drop! Even though their brick-and-mortar locations will be closed, many will have Black Friday deals on their websites.

After dinner is over and the company has gone home, get comfortable, and get ready for a marathon shopping experience!

Put away the rest of the Thanksgiving leftovers - except for the pie, you might need that to keep up your strength while traveling from one website to the next.
